Computing Infrastructure Undergraduates attends the rawSEC MINICon 2026

The School of Computer Sciences was invited to attend the rawSEC MINICon 2026, a community-driven cybersecurity mini conference organised by rawSEC on 31st October 2026. Conducted at the Leo Moggie Convention Centre (LMCC), TNB Bangar, the event gathered cybersecurity undergraduates from public and private universities for community-led talks, technical sessions, and regional speakers.

Recognising the significance, each university was encouraged to send a max number of 40 students to participate in the conference. With this, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Najwadi Yusoff and Ashman Bin Mohd Fauzi assisted in planning the trip, which included arranging the transportation, accommodation, and logistics for the school students. A total of 36 Undergraduates majoring in Computing Infrastructure, from the first year until the final year, attended the conference together. It marks the First Major-Exclusive Multi-year Overnight Field Trip.

The conference itself prepared two halls, covering different topics led by both local and international speakers. Some of the topics covered malware analysis, AI-augmented cyber attacks, OSINT, Threat Intelligence etc. Different booths featuring Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cydes to name a few, were present to update their current progress and security updates to the cybersecurity community. A series of dining sessions took place which provided multiple networking opportunities for the students to engage in intervarsity discussions. To maintain enthusiasm until the end of the programme, a lucky-draw session was done as the finale of the event.

For the trip, Ashman, acting as the Main PIC, established a team of student volunteers to ensure smooth management. With Insyirah and Hazeeq acting as the Cohort PIC, they kept updates about the well-being and location for their respective cohorts. Our main media team consisting of Qistina, Aida, and Irfan captured the cheerful spirits of the students during the event, ensuring it will become a long-lasting memory. A sincere gratitude to Irsyad, Aisyahtul, and Rayyan for providing feedback on their thoughts of the event and how it would assist in their cybersecurity journeys. Special thanks to Adrian and Alif for the banner preparation and foot traffic.

The School of Computer Sciences expresses our gratitude to all the students for their active cooperation. The trip utilised the conference as the main contributor in discussing the students future career paths while the residual leisure time was spent as the perfect bonding moments between the Seniors and Juniors. Overall, it was an insightful wonderful experience for the students to stay connected with the cybersecurity community and we encourage more active participation in nationwide discussions.
