Internship

The Industrial Training Programme is one of the most important components of the equipping Computer Science graduates with useful skills in professional content. Trainees are expected to enhance their ability to manage projects, prepare documentations, prepare and deliver a presentation, design, implement, or maintain systems.

The length Training is 26 weeks (6 months) and the duration is during Year 3 Semester II and long vacation which is from February until July for every academic session.

Students are expected to obtain a full time placement at an organization which can provide appropriate industrial Training experience to a future graduate of the Bachelor of Computer Science. Learning is achieved through the supervision process, practical work (including project) and independent learning.

An organization would normally be allowed to recruit trainees only if they have the capability to provide an appropriate work environment suitable for a trainee who is candidate for the Bachelor of Computer Science

Currently, there are around 180 organizations in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, Singapore, and China that are capable and ready to recruit USM Computer Science trainees. The organizations cover all social –economic spectrums and include:

  • Multinational corporations.
  • Academic and research institution.
  • Government and semi-government bodies.
  • Factories
  • Bank, Insurance firm and financial institution.
  • Consultancy and high value service organization.
  • Software and integrated solution companies.
